Severe hail damage to Batlow orchards

Last week a hail storm ripped through Batlow (NSW) and inflicted severe damage on district apple orchards. An estimated 50% of next year's crop has been destroyed. Gippsland (Vic) orchards were also severly hit by hail storms. The entire industry feels for the impacted orchardists, particularly the Batlow growers - many of whom have lost next year's entire crop.

It was only a few weeks ago that ProFruit staff were in Batlow for the Batlow Apple Blossom Festival. The blossoms on the trees looked spectacular and gave hope of a very productive season.

Sadly, the photo's above are now a sad reminder of how harsh our weather can be to our Aussie Growers. The clip below show's Batlow now, after the severe storms.
